The official call for applications for the 2027 France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship program has officially opened, inviting outstanding international students to pursue Master’s and PhD programs in France. Administered through eligible French higher education institutions, applicants must secure institutional nomination ahead of the upcoming national deadlines.

PARIS, October: The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has officially launched the call for applications for the 2027 France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship program, inviting high-achieving international students to apply for prestigious postgraduate studies in France.
The competitive scholarship scheme, managed through Campus France, opened for submissions on October 1, 2026. Designed to attract and support top-tier foreign scholars, the initiative targets future decision-makers in both the public and private sectors across a diverse array of critical academic disciplines.

According to program guidelines, individual students cannot apply directly to the scholarship. Instead, applications must be compiled, endorsed, and formally submitted by French higher education institutions wishing to host the candidates. Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to coordinate directly with their target French universities or graduate schools to complete institutional pre-selection procedures well in advance of national deadlines.
The funding initiative spans two primary academic tracks: Master’s level studies and doctoral programs. Eligible fields of study are divided into two broad categories encompassing seven specific core areas. Science and technology fields include biology and health, ecological transition, mathematics and digital sciences, and engineering sciences. Meanwhile, the humanities and social sciences track covers history, French language and civilization, law and political science, and economics and management.
Age limits apply for the 2027 campaign cycle. Master’s and engineering degree applicants must be born on or after March 31, 1997, making them 29 years old or younger. For doctoral candidates, applicants must be born on or after March 31, 1991, setting the maximum age threshold at 35 years. Foreign nationals holding dual French citizenship are strictly ineligible for the program.
Financial provisions under the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship include a substantial monthly living allowance. Master’s recipients receive a monthly stipend of €1,200, while doctoral scholarship holders are granted €2,000 per month. In addition to the monthly living stipend, the scholarship covers various direct services, including international air travel, domestic transportation within France, health insurance coverage, and assistance with cultural activities and housing searches. However, regular university tuition fees are not directly covered by the Eiffel grant, though recipients of French government scholarships may receive exemptions for national diplomas at public institutions.
Institutional deadlines for submitting candidate dossiers to Campus France extend into early January 2027. Because individual universities establish their own internal screening and vetting windows weeks ahead of the national deadline, candidates must verify specific institutional timelines with their prospective host campuses. Successful scholarship recipients and their respective host institutions will be notified of final selection results following the conclusion of the national evaluation process.
